Maddie's Favourite Things

It's hard to believe but Maddie will be 6 weeks old in two days time, its gone so quickly. She seems to be changing everyday, and demanding a lot more of my time as well. A few weeks ago all she did was sleep and feed, but now she needs a lot more awake time and that means looking at things, she loves lying under her play gym and looking into peoples faces. But most of all she loves having a bath, now instead of crying when we put her in she cries when we take her out!! Also she loves getting naked on her changing mat and looking at Panda and Giraffe on the wall and her little friends Peter Rabbit, Mr Duck and Shakin Creature from cousin Harriet.

Weekend Away

We took Maddie up North to meet Kev's family, she was really good and we managed to make both trips there and back without stopping to feed her. But we realized she is a speed freak and would only start crying when we slowed down or stopped.
She slept through the night too on the Wednesday before we went away, she hasn't done it since but I think we are getting there with most of her night time feeds around 4-5am.
She was weighed by the health visitor last week and now weighs 9 lbs 4 ozs, she is developing very chubby cheeks!!

Smiley Maddie

In the past week Maddie has started smiling, but I haven't managed to get a decent photo yet of her doing it. She hasn't been a very happy bunny at feeding time though, she definitely noticed a difference with the antibiotics and let us all know about it with a few screaming fits. We visited our friends who had a little boy last tuesday who weighed 8 pounds exactly too, he looked so small compared to Maddie who I'm sure must be over 9 pounds now.

Healthy Girl

The midwife came again today, she wanted to see Maddie again after her cord had come off. (which was quite stubborn and took two weeks to come off) She also weighed Maddie and she has put on 7 oz since last Wednesday, so she now weighs 8 lb 14 oz, 4kg. A very healthy weight gain at this stage, she is feeding and sleeping really well only waking once in the night, last night she managed to sleep from 11.30pm through to 5.00am. I've developed an infection though so I have to take some antibiotics which will affect my milk slightly so hopefully Maddie won't be too bothered by it, apparently some babies can notice the difference in the milk and are a bit reluctant to feed but it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
