Kitchen Before and After

Kev finished the kitchen just before Christmas, he has made a really good job, considering its just a re-hash to tide us over until we do the loft conversion and put a whole new kitchen in.
The old owner has even asked if he can do a kitchen for him in one of his property's. Penny as you would say "it's his business"

Head down

Its definitely head down, so no need to worry yet, but the head is still very high up which maybe an issue, the midwife said "oh we just let you go into labour and hope a few good contractions will bring the head down". Fingers crossed the head comes down before I go into labour or as she said as the alternative is a c-section.

Bum or Head

I just had an appointment with the midwife, she is pretty sure that the baby is head down, but not 100%, she can't tell if its a little bum or a head at the top. Because its my first baby too my muscles are quite tight and its hard to really feel properly. So I've got to go to the hospital tomorrow for a scan, if its breech then they may try and turn it or we will have to discuss an elective caesarean. I'm feeling very uneasy about the whole thing and Kev is telling me not to stress which is just winding me up and getting me even more grumpy.
I'm grumpy because I developed stretch marks on Boxing Day, after almost 39 weeks and to get them right at the end. It must have been my big Christmas lunch, they are really small just around my belly button but I thought I had gotten away with not getting them. Its not so much getting them its just to almost make it to the end of my pregnancy and get them which is gutting. I shouldn't complain as everything else has been fine so far. Fingers crossed little Spiros is head down tomorrow.

Merry Christmas

Yesterday we went supermarket shopping at 5am!!! And it was busy. I think everyone else had the same idea as us. We have everything for our big Christmas Dinner tomorrow for just the two of us, roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, brussel sprouts, carrots, peas, and little sausages wrapped in bacon. Followed by toffee and pecan roulade and organic vanilla ice cream.
No baby developments, just lots and lots of crazy kicking last night and I'm really tired.

Comparison Photos

Me at 12 Weeks when I thought I looked really pregnant!!! and me now at 38 Weeks

Enough DIY

Ok I know we have to get it done and this is the last big job but its really getting on my nerves, the washing machine is in the living room, the cupboard doors are off and I have to try and squeeze my body around things, I have lots of brusies on my upper thighs to prove I'm not squeezing enough. But I shouldn't complain because Kev has done a great job, he has worked non stop really since we moved in to get everything looking nice for us. He's great. My DIY hero. So please little Spiros don't come until after the holidays so your Dad can have a chance to relax first.

So Bored

I'm getting really bored now, watching 4 episodes of Charmed a day is loosing its appeal, and there is nothing else to do really around the house, well that I can do anyway.
On Monday the power went out for 3 hours and I completely freaked, I thought is was the end of the world, almost in tears, I was so worried that it wasn't going to come back on and I would have to throw away all the food in the freezer. But I did get to meet our neighbours which was good and they seem really nice. I'm glad it wasn't today because it is absolutely freezing here, very frosty.
Just did a quick measurement and my tummy is measuring 43 inches wide, its been 42 for about a month, I'm hoping it doesn't get too much bigger.

Last Night out for a while

We went out for dinner last night with another couple, they are pregnant too, she is 4 weeks behind me. Quite possibly our last meal out for a while. I'm looking extremely fat and Kev is looking hung over from his works party the night before.

Bumps and Babes and Check up

This morning I met up with two other Mums to be in Hertford. There was meant to be 8 of us who are all due in January but the others were busy or still working. It was nice to talk to other first time Mums as well, we all had the same worries and concerns. We are going to met up again at the end of January again with our babies.

Also had a check-up with the midwives today, I had three of them, so they were very thorough, they were admiring my firm stretch mark free belly as well!!! I'm measuring a lot bigger than is normal but they seem to think I have a lot of fluid and its not all baby. Little Spiros is very low in the pelvis but not quite engaged yet so they think I will be another few weeks at least. But everytime I go out now I keep on thinking what would happen if my waters broke in this shop or on this bus or things like that, I don't really want to venture too far away from home either.

A little more organised

Well the house is gradually getting there, at least we have a fridge in our kitchen now not in the baby's room. We put the cot up yesterday and organised a few other things in the room as well, its starting to look a bit like a baby's room now. Now I've got loads and loads of baby washing to do, sheets, face cloths bibs etc and there is no point waiting for a nice day, no chance of that in the middle of December.
Still no stretch marks on my giantantic belly but my skin is very stretched, it feels very thin and I can feel Spiros feet when he kicks. Fingers crossed I don't get them as I've only got another 3-4 weeks to go.
I'm thinking about packing a bag for the hospital this week, I don't think its coming soon though, I think hes too cosy inside. (despite everyone including complete strangers telling me it looks like i'm ready any moment)

36 Weeks

and looking huge, I think I might have dropped a bit, hard to tell from the photo though.
I got two more lovely presents today in the post, little Spiros is so spoilt already.
We still don't have a working oven, its been a week now, we have done the microwave pasta, the pot noddles and the George Foreman grill, I'm getting a little bit grumpy about it. Cyril the gas man, one of Kev's mates came to install the gas hob but he didn't have the right fitting, and now it could be another week before he is back, so much for cooking and freezing meals before the baby comes, we could be having a microwave Christmas dinner at this rate.

35 Weeks

I couldn't decide which photo made my bump look smaller!!! So here's both, feeling like a 20 tonne whale now. If things fall on the floor I tend to just leave them until a pile develops and I pick them all up at the same time. It too much effort and not to mention the huffing and puffing. I have done some mailorder shopping for the baby today so that has cheered me up. The hospital tells me I'm 35 weeks but I'm convinced I'm 36. This baby is just getting too big for me. Its not moving as much anymore either, its running out of room, especially compared to last weekend when it was going crazy when we were staying at Kev's parents.

Another Year Older

I had a lovely birthday yesterday, even though it did start a bit early with birthday text messages at 5am, (we are 13 hours behind over here Kiwi's)
Thank you to everyone for the cards/messages and presents.
My naughty husband spoilt me and gave me a huge bunch of roses and lilies and chocolates, I told him we need to save our money but he never listens to me. He also got me the canvas's I was wanting as well which I am going to paint animals on for Spiros room. Not much progress on the room yet, by the end of this weekend hopefully we will have the kitchen sorted.
We went to the supermarket and I stocked up on Nappies and wipes and stuff if it did decide to make an early appearance we would beable to manage.

New Hospital

I booked in yesterday to my new hospital, the two midwives that I met seemed very nice, and they were all very organised. Kev feel asleep in the chair while we were going over my records from the old hospital, apparently he did it a few times but woke himself up, I only caught him once and whacked him. Poor little love, we did get up at 5.30 and he drove all the way down from his parents and the room was very hot.
The baby is head down, the midwife had to get a second opinion though as it was moving lots. I'm measuring two weeks bigger still so instead of 34 cms I'm 36 cms.
I had a blood test as well and didn't even feel faint, she took three tubes, Kev said I looked like a little kid when I came out the the blood test cubicle I had a big cheesy smile on my face - I was so proud of myself for not feeling faint.
I'm 29 tomorrow!!!!

Weekend with Kev's Family

We had a lovely weekend up in Lancashire with Kev's family, we stayed Thursday night with Graham, Ali and the kids and then three nights with Kev's parents.
Marian spoilt us all and cooked a huge roast dinner on Saturday, it was kind of like a Christmas dinner really since we won't be there for Christmas.
I had some men who I didn't even know rubbing my tummy in the pub on Friday night, and lots and lots of stares too. Luckily the pub wasn't too busy, we stood by the door so I didn't overheat and it wasn't too smokey.

Kev's family have been so generous and given us loads and loads of baby things, which is really good for us since I haven't been working and us just buying the house money is a bit tight at the moment.

Why you shouldn't wear Stripes

33 1/2 Weeks
What was I thinking when I brought this top! I kind of thought that the stripes across my belly might detract from how large my breasts are. Apparently not. They shouldn't make maternity clothes with horizontal stripes anyway, its just cruel, because disillusioned pregnant women like me buy them thinking it looks ok in the shop and then we see our reflection in a shop window and realize it was a big mistake. People already think I'm ready to drop now as it is so I might just keep this one for wearing at home.

But I don't look pregnant from behind though, well not really, just a little bit bigger around the hips, I even got a toot from some boys in a car, they were coming from behind, they must have got a shock when they actually drove past and saw my belly!!!

Lots to Do

There is still lots to do around the house, especially the kitchen and Spiros' room, the sofa still hasn't arrived either. We will hopefully get the kitchen done next weekend, and then I will have my new oven, so I can start stock piling the freezer with meals and baking for January. We are going up north this weekend, both Kev and I can't wait, it will be almost three months since our last trip up. A photo of Spiros room, but hopefully within 3 weeks it will be transformed, its full of stuff at the moment and even our fridge. I will post another photo once its done. Lets hope he doesn't come early.
Also another photo of me painting the bath panel, don't worry I had both the windows open. (Please ignore Kev's 90s sports top that I'm wearing) At the moment i'm wearing that around the house and a really old pair of trackies, which can only sit under my tummy, I look like a middle aged man with a beer belly!! Very attractive.

Communication with the outside world

At Last!!!
Finally the cable guys came around and installed our TV/phone and broadband. Both Kev and I were going insane, we could only get one channel on each tv at a time and then it was fuzzy and black and white most of the time anyway. So I have gone back to a few old posts and added photos as well.

I had a check up last week with the doctor and she said Spiros was head down and very low in my pelvis which she was surprised at. I'm also measuring two weeks bigger as well, "A nice big healthy baby" she said. Nooooooooooo. I don't want a big baby, but apparently smaller babies don't make for an easier birth anyway.

Both Kev and I have been busy doing things around the house, we are working on the kitchen now, these are photos of work in progress, I will post some new ones, once it is all done, its a race against time now to get everything done before Spiros is born. We were planning on just living with the kitchen as it is until we do the loft conversion but we have decided to improve it because we don't know exactly when we will be able to do the conversion.

I went to a card making class on Wednesday which was lots of fun, Kev kept on saying it will be a great opportunity to meet new people. Joan and Chris the other two in the class were telling me it was a great way to relax in their retirement!!! Maybe I will have more luck with the mothers group.

Another Week in Hertfordshire

And 32 Weeks
Another week has passed in our new house and we are a little bit more sorted. Kev has loaded lots of stuff into the loft space so we can actually get into our lounge and spare bedroom now. Still no sofa or telephone yet, should have the sofa within a few weeks, but the phone/cable people are taking their time.
We have a new washing machine too, delivered by the 9 fingered man, Kit Kat - (four fingers) someone who works with Kev, Kev wasn't home and he couldn't lift it up the stairs by himself so I had to entertain him for half an hour, Kev was really worried I was going to ask him why hes called Kit Kat, supposedly I ask inappropriate questions!!! But we had a great chat about fish and NZ.
And hopefully next week we will have a new fridge/freezer and oven.
I had a nice chat with a man on the bus today, he was telling me all about his wife's agonising childbirth and his father picking up the superbug at hospital. Thanks for that!
I have taken a photo of myself, but I won't beable to load it until we get the internet at home. Little Spiros is still moving lots, both Kev and I can actually feel limbs now which is quite freaky.
I have a doctors appointment this afternoon, she will be booking me into a new hospital in our area which will be good, also I got a call from NCT (National Childbirth Trust) asking if I was still interested in doing their classes, they are hoping to organise a class in our area before Xmas, if its after Christmas it won't be much benefit to me or little Spiros

31 Weeks and lots of tears

We moved in ok, but for a few days we were surrounded by boxes, our old place was a lot bigger and we brought stuff to fill the space when we moved from our flat in Camden.
Both Kev and I love the area, I've been exploring a lot, well really just hopping on the wrong buses and then trying to find my way back home. I got it completely wrong and ended up crying my eyes out on the side of a main road, a bit embarrassing now, but it felt like the worse thing ever when it happened. A few other scenes this week too - hormones!!
We don't have a landline yet, so I'm doing this on the computer at the library, fingers crossed next week.

Moving Day Tomorrow

Tomorrow is moving day, after loads of complications, stressful phone calls, and visits to the solicitors and estate agents.
We finally got the keys at ten to five yesterday after a whole day waiting for them, so we drove straight to the new place to take another look and drop off a few fragile things, it’s a lot smaller than our place we are in now, so we are going to have to be clever with storage and things until we do our loft conversion. My bump is too big for the kitchen as well, I have to twist myself to get in next to the sink, or back myself in.
I went shopping on Wednesday and I think people must think I’m ready to drop, this woman at M&S who was meeting and greeting, said to me, “any day now” and when I was queuing for the toilet this woman asked if I was desperate, and I could go first if I wanted. How embarrassing, I’ve got 10 weeks to go, not 2!!!
I think I may have had some Braxton Hicks contractions last night though, from about 9 until midnight, it was bearable pain though and they didn’t get any stronger. I feel fine this morning.
Lots of last minute packing to do,
Here’s a photo of me opening the door to our new house.

Check up

I had a check up with the midwife today, everything was fine, my blood sugar was a little high, I said well I've only had cherrios for breakfast and she said it would be that, I told her they didn't taste like they had sugar in them, but when I came home I checked the box and they are full of sugar. I think I might stick to branflakes and shreaded wheat from now on.
I told her I was worried the baby was going to be huge, but after she felt my tummy she said it feel like a normal to small size at the moment.

Also went to the dentist today, halfway through I had to get him to tilt the chair back up because the pressure on my back from my tummy was making me feel quesy. Its free treatment until a year after the baby is born as well, not that I needed anything doing though.

I have been talking to Marian and the photo of "my little chubby husband" is not the official photo, there is another one inwhich he looks much nicer, that was just one of the photographers proofs which Graham had.

Trevor is coming tonight, Kev's other brother, we are going out for a curry to our favourite Indian, just up the road, they even know us there, it will probably be our last time, since we're moving soon.

First Baby Purchase

Yesterday I went shopping on Oxford Street, I left home at 9.30 and got home at 2.30 and had to have a hour and a half nap to recover. I initially I went to get a pair of maternity trousers for myself but I got carried away and decided to do lots of window shopping as well. Marks and Spencer’s were having a sale and it was crazy, but I did manage to get a £3 nightie for giving birth in. I had to fight a middle-aged lady over the last size 14, she probably felt sorry for me when she saw my bump.I made the fatal mistake of looking at baby stuff in Gap and they had a sale rack, I just had to buy something. I started wishing I knew the sex of the baby because there were so many cute blue and pink things.
I took a photo but I can't upload it on our crappy dial up connection

28 Weeks

Three Monkeys

Here's a photo of our nieces and nephew, from left Matthew, Olivia and Harriet, this is from the bank holiday weekend in August, when we had a BBQ at Kev's parents. I've been meaning to put it on for ages; I don't seem to be able to upload photos at home so I used the scanner at work.

Big Mama Bras

I had a proper bra fitting yesterday, initially I was a little shy, I tried on about 20 bras but by the end I was standing there talking to the girl completely bra-less. I'm sure she has seen them all before, especially since it’s a bra shop designed for large breasted women. Anyway I am now wearing a size which is so ridiculously big I'm ashamed to tell anyone apart from my Mum and Kev. Please let them shrink back eventually!!! But they told me I can go in any time and they will check my bra for me to make sure its still the right size and I can go in two weeks before my due date to get some nursing bras fitted. She told me I was carrying my bump quite high, which I didn't think I was but I think she is right, I seem to have grown a lot in past few weeks, I used to be able to place my hand under my bra and there would still be a big gap between it and where my bump started, that’s disappeared now. I've been suffering indigestion the past few nights as well. (Could be a boy!!) Its my last day on my temping assignment today, the guy I work for is working from home and the only person that I sit within talking distance to is away as well. Hopefully I can read my book without anyone noticing, there is only so many times you can check your yahoo account and look at baby websites.

Sore ribs

I'm bored at my temping job thats why I have been doing so many updates.
But I take back everything I have been saying about the baby not kicking high up and pressing on my ribs, because it has started today. Because I seem to be carrying quite low I thought I might get away with not having to deal with that. My bump has grown a lot in the last week, and even now sitting at my desk I can't really get close enough because it's in the way.
And last night when i got home my toes were even fatter than normal. Today I didn't wear my wedding ring for the first time as its just getting too tight, I haven't been wearing my engagement ring for weeks now but it feels really strange not wearing either.
I will post a photo on friday.

Our new place

We have bought the top floor flat, but thats our front door in the photo, front door for the ground floor flat is at the back. It was built in 1889, it has lots of character and potential and eventually we will extend into the loft space. Both Kev and I can't wait to move in now, it will be great to finally have our own place.

my little chubby husband!

Kev is going to kill me but I couldn't resist, here's a photo of Kev with his two brothers, hes the one in the middle with the huge cheeks and the startled look on his face, isn't he cute, he was a very big baby, over 9 pounds.

27 Weeks

I'm 27 weeks today, 13 weeks to go, which is very scary, in just over three months we will be parents. I haven't brought a single baby thing yet. But hopefully I won't need to buy much stuff at the start anyway because Kev's family are being so generous and I got a lovely parcel from Mum and Dad with lots of neat things.
Hopefully we will be moving three weeks time, fingers crossed as there are a few complications and we have also found out that someone is moving into our old flat the same day!!! I have told Kev I can't do homelessness at 30 weeks pregnant!

Working Girl Again

I've joined the workforce again, even if it's only for two weeks. I feel normal again, after too many weeks sitting at home stuffing myself with chocolate and daytime telly it feels good to be sitting at a desk for 7 hours a day.
Kev told me yesterday I looked so nice and smelt so clean!!! Charming! I was wearing makeup and perfume for a change and nice clothes instead of a t-shirt and jeans.
I'm working as a PA to a Head of Division at Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) it's my 2nd day and so far pretty easy.

Passed my driving theory test

I passed, and I even got 100 % in the multiple choice section. Not that hard really though, the questions are just common sense. I didn't do quite as well in my hazard perception with the simulated video clips but I did pass. Kev dropped me off and I took the bus halfway home and then the tube. I was the only one on the bus that didn't have white or grey hair!
Now I have passed my theory test I can sit my practical driving, I've booked it for the 23rd of October, but I can postpone if my instructor doesn't think I am ready.
Today I put on a top that I only bought three weeks ago and its stuggling to get over my tummy! Last night Kev was staring at my bare tummy and when I asked what he was looking at he said my belly button, it looks like it ready to burst into an outie at any minute!

Seaside and Driving

Kev and I went to the seaside for a picnic on Saturday, initally I wanted to go into London and do something because when we move I don't think we will have as much chance to. But Kev pursuaded me a trip to the seaside was what I needed and a chance to practice my driving.
It was meant to be a lunch time picnic but after a few delays and one of Kev's work mates telling us it was only an hours drive we finally sat down to our picnic at 3.30. We had a near disaster when Kev the navigator directed me to the motorway, which is illegal when you are a learner driver and lots of saturday congestion meant it took us longer than expected. But is was a good day really with me tallying up 130 miles driving and I even got up to 70 miles per hour on the dual carriageway! Don't work that out in kilometres Mum it might freak you out. It was the first night in ages that I didn't have any problems getting to sleep.

Bumps and Babes

I went to a bumps and babes group today with my friend Becky, there was one other bump and 8 babes with their mums. It was very noisy, all the babies were between 5 months and a year, none are walking yet but they certainly made lots of noise, it was quite tiring just sitting there for two hours watching mums feeding and entertaining their babies. And little bit frightening.

Friday, September 01, 2006

I had another scan yesterday, everything is fine and normal with the baby, he is very active and wouldn't stop moving the whole time, making it difficult for the scanner to get all the measurements. Today I had my 22 week check up at the hospital and because everything is normal and I'm low risk I don't have to go back now all my care will be under my GP from now on until my due date. Thats a relief as I had to wait an 1 and a half hours for my appointment this morning and because Kev had taken time off yesterday for the scan and couldn't come I had to take the tube three stops and then walk for half and hour to get to the hospital and the same back again. Bring on the drivers licence!! I had a lesson this afternoon, he got me to practice a few emergency stops, he thinks its wise to do it before I get too much bigger.

Long Weekend up North

Kev and I had a great weekend up North last weekend, nice and relaxing.
We looked after Livy and Matt on Friday for a few hours which was fun, merry-go-rounds and ice cream and Southport Pier. Then we had a BBQ with all his family on Saturday the kids had lots of fun creating an imaginary horse and carriage (I have some photos but for some reason can't attach them, I will try again later.)
Kev and I went for a tantem bike ride on Monday, it was good, but it killed my bum, I think its a bit more sensitive than normal. We are next going up to his parents in November, I'm hoping I will still be able to ride with Kev then, but its doubtful I think sheer size of my belly will rule it out and I'm not sure if Marian would let me if I could anyway.
Marian's sister Eileen is letting us borrow a moses basket (that a bassinet for you kiwi's) for the baby to start of with and then Greb and Ali are lending us their cot and Sharon has given us lots of baby stuff too which is great. With me not having a job at the moment and us buying a house its a big help.

Desperate Housewife

Being a housewife is hardwork, well a good housewife anyway, cooking, cleaning, ironing!
I'm enjoying this time off and I think Spiros is too, he's moving around a lot now, Kev can feel the kicks too now.
I booked my theory test for my driving licence today, in 18 days, its different to NZ you can drive without your theory test, but you need it to sit before your practical test and get your licence. My instructor told me I should book my practical for the 2nd week in October, obviously he has faith in me.
We are off up North to Kev's parents place for the long weekend, which will be really good, a BBQ on saturday and catching up with everyone.

Lady of Leisure

I prefer Lady of Leisure to Unemployed

For the first time in my working life I am unemployed and not by choice. Yes my employers decided they "had to let me go because I wasn't a personality fit for the team". More like a pregnant woman who will be going on maternity leave for 6 months doesn't fit into their plan.
Because I was still on probabtion they could say that, basically I had no rights. I'm not going to fight for unfair dismissal as it probably won't be worth it and I need their references to get temping jobs until December and they know that.
Anyway on a positive note we got the house that we wanted in Hertfordshire so we are sorting out the contracts and lawyers and things now.

Apologies for the photo if you don't really want to see my bare belly, but there has been requests from NZ.
Me at 19 weeks and 3 days.

Lots of Kicking

I have been trying to post some photos, but there is something wrong with our internet connection and its just not working.
Little Spiros is becoming very active and especially likes kicking and elbowing me when I hop into bed at night. Mum started to freak me out by saying that it could be twins you know because sometimes they don't pick it up until later, I think I'm just carrying a lot of fluid thats why I'm so big.
The offer on our house has been accepted finally but in the meantime we have found something else which is much more exciting, it has the possiblity of a loft conversion.
Kev's brother Trevor is coming to stay this weekend with his wife Sharon and there daughter Harriet, should be a fun weekend.

Am I really that big?

I'm starting to get really paranoid about the size of my tummy, people at work are commenting on how big it is, and the girl who lives downstairs from us even asked if I was having twins!
Lots of people are asking me when I'm due and when I tell them 4th of Jan I always follow it up with I'm quite big for my dates. The comments of " I didn't show until I was at least 5 months" or "my wife wasn't as big as you" are starting to annoy me, its normally followed by, well you are short so its got no where to hide. Kev tells me I'm just being silly and I'm just being extra sensitive.

No it's not a boy!

Lots of people have been saying is it a boy? Because I keep on referring to "it" as a he.
Just to confirm we don't know what the sex of the baby is and we aren't going to find out, we want it to be a lovely surprise.
We just both refer to "it" as a he, its easier, and we do call him Spiros as well, at first he was Derek - because Nannie Pen thinks thats a great name, and we think its pretty cool too! but then we decided he was something more exotic like Spiros, he's a greasy fat hairy greek waiter!!

(by the way, we all hate Derek, just in case you didn't realize)

Butterflies Turning into Kicks

Last week I had a few butterfly feelings in my tummy and I wasn't sure if they were the baby, but now they are more definite and its starting to feel like kicks. Very strange feeling, still quite low down and he seems to be more active in the morning. He was going crazy after my driving lesson on saturday, I think it must of been the adrenalin pumping through my body, my instructor wasn't impressed and had to use the dual controls when I attempted to pull out infront of a huge truck on the roundabout.

Kev parents have gone home today, it was good to see them, we took them for a few long drives in the essex country side and had very nice meal in a pub over looking a village green where there was cricket on last night so it was a nice relaxing finish to the weekend.

We have place a second offer in on the house we want, so fingers crossed.

17 Weeks

17 weeks
Kev has said to me, he thinks he can actually see my tummy growing!
The midwife said I will probably slow down, everyones different and I shouldn't be worried about comparing my size to anyone else.
Michael and Marian are here for the weekend, so its good to be able to talk to Marian about things.
My friend Melissa had a 9.1 lb oz baby yesterday after 28 hours of labour and forceps, which is quite scary, Mum has reasurred me she was only 7 1/2 hours with me, Scott 2 1/2 and 1/2 hour with Sam who was a 9 pound something baby, and I will be fine. I've got another 23 weeks to go so I'm not going to start worrying about it yet. Melissa told me once you get so to that stage anyway you just want it out and you're not worried about the labour.

Getting Bigger

I had my four month check up at the hospital last Friday, we heard the heartbeat which was amazing, like the sound of galloping horses, apparently it's twice as fast as my heartbeat.
I'm starting to feel really big now, I don't feel my tummy is a pretty little bump anymore. I'm starting to feel guility now when people offer me seats on the tube too. But at the same time very grumpy when they don't! - Hormones.
I have managed to go for a bike ride in the forest the last two weekends, but I now realize what people mean when they say I won't be able to do that for much longer, the tummy is starting to get in the way. Now I know why really fat people ride bikes with their knees poking outwards.

My friend Melissa went into labour this morning which is very exciting.

I have vowed to stop watching baby tv as well, its freaking me out about giving birth and making me sad that my Mum won't be here for it.

Kev's parents are coming tomorrow for a long weekend which will be good, and they are bringing some maternity clothes my sister-in-law Ali is loaning me. - Yay, some new clothes, I have four stretching skirts which I have been living in for the past month.

The Growing Tummy - 15 Weeks

(15 weeks)

A seat on the tube all the time, yay! apart from this morning stinky gits!!
I'm getting very big, its quite frightening, I think I look about 6 month pregnant not just about 4, a bit embarrassing. But I've only put on 4 pounds so far, and I've been reading that a 5 to 10 pound weight gain is normal by now, I think its just my height and frame that making it stick out so much.

It's now Official!

I told my manager and the owner of the consultancy yesterday, they took it well, and were quite understanding, they are quite pregnancy friendly with someone on maternity leave now, a woman who has just come back and another woman about to go on leave. But I'm still on probation. I think they are just really concerned that they are putting a lot of time and effort into gettting me trained up and then I won't come back after my maternity leave, which is understandable.
A few of the girls in the office told me they had noticed I had a tummy, and wondered whether or not I was pregnant, so I guess it was about time I told them before everyone started noticing.

Kev's brother and sister-inlaw came for the weekend with their two children, they went off to a wedding in London and Kev and I looked after Matt (4) and Livy (2) for a full 24 hours, it was challenging, but it was great, they are really well behaved and great fun.

I will post a photo next weekend of my tummy, its getting quite big, Ali my sister-inlaw thinks I'm going to be huge. Great!

Wisdom Teeth

ah ah ah, my wisdom teeth are going crazy at the moment, which is not good, I can take small doses of paracetamol if I need too but I would rather not, so instead it's salt water rinses and bonjela gel. At least I get free dental care now, fingers crossed the pain will be gone tomorrow.

My big fat tummy - 12 Weeks

Had my first official driving lesson today, two hours. It went alright, not as bad as I thought it would be and he has the dual brake and clutch which makes me feel less nervous.

Decided to take a photo today, (12 weeks + 1 day) to prove to everyone that yes I do look pregnant, and the two people that offered me seats on the tube weren't' delusional. Unfortunately I'm not ready to look pregnant as far as work is concerned, I was hoping to keep it a secret for another two months. But with the rate my boobs and tummy are growing there is no chance.

Kev and I are doing a 25 mile bike ride tomorrow, I am driving the car to the garage as it's getting serviced on Monday and they said we could leave it there overnight with the bikes in the back and then biking home. Driving lessons and exercise all into one. We will have to have few pits stops on the way though. So over the world cup, impossible to engage in any form of conversation with Kev if the football is on.

11 Week Scan

I had another scan on Friday and everything is looking fine so far, he was even doing a little dance, which Kev found amusing. (Don't know if its a boy, but I keep on referring to it as a he even though I think we might have girl, - because almost everyone we know has had a boy or is having a boy.)

Work is going well, just really tired and its been hard thinking of excuses not to drink, I'm on two separate courses tomorrow and Thursday, both should be very helpful.

will post a photo in a weekend of my bump

Hardly anymore morning sickness anymore which is great. I'm just eating loads.

Last Day

Its my last day at the newspaper tomorrow, and I start my new job on Tueaday after the long weekend. I'm really looking forward to it but a bit apprehensive about the amount of hours I will have to work. I'm sure everything will be fine though.

First Craving

KFC - yuck

I think I had my first craving, KFC, just the chicken though, and I gave in, it was strangely satisfying yet disgusting at the same time. I hope its just a one off.

First Scan - 6 Weeks

The baby is in the right place and we saw the heartbeat, we both decided it looked like a little maggot in the scan.
We are both very relieved everything is normal. Still early days yet though, the scan showed the baby to be 6 weeks but I think I'm 7 weeks, apparently its quite hard to tell at this early stage. Still not going to tell any one else yet.
Had another driving lesson this morning with Kev, not a good combination with morning sickness.

Morning Sickness?

I have been feeling quite nauseous in the morning, but Kev thinks that I'm just being a drama queen. But if I am around 7 weeks, its generally the 6 week mark that you start to have symptoms.

Kevin and I are pregnant

Kevin and I are pregnant, and I have decided to create this blog to document our first baby.
We only just found out last week and are still not sure of the correct dates, but we think I'm around 7 weeks pregnant. We have only told our parents and no one else, I am having a scan this Friday to make sure everything is alright as I am having a few problems. Fingers crossed.

I got this idea from my friend Melissa who is having a baby in NZ.
